Kesher’s Development and Training Center believes the family is central to raising a child with special needs.. Empowering and strengthening the parents and family enables productive dialogue with professionals – and allows them to successfully advocate for their children, youth, and young adults with disabilities. Based on this approach, the center developed a series of courses and workshops for the entire family focusing on the parents, siblings and grandparents. Each course adds to the family member’s toolbox of professional tools for coping with challenges and empowers them in their activities and advocacy.

For example, the parents’ leadership development course  encourages development of local communities that initiate a variety of events and activities for the benefit of local community members. The course addresses integration and inclusion which enriches the parents’ knowledge of the possibilities available to them in the education system and it creates discussions about dilemmas.The Development and Training Center takes place almost entirely thanks to donations. Donations help subsidise most of the activities and allows us to offer them for nominal fee or free of charge for the special families.
